<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that all of documents and folders stored in a printer controller can be used by any user since all operations for the documents are possible from a computer, resulting in insufficiency from viewpoints of protecting and managing the stored documents and folders. <P>SOLUTION: When an operation of printing or deleting the documents stored on the printer controller or an operation on a folder in which the document is stored is requested from the computer, a storage management section which controls the document inspects authentication of the operation for the document of a requesting user. To do so, a storage management table owned by the management section for controlling the document is used to determine whether the user is to be permitted to operate on the document, and the result is returned to the requesting user. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
