<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receptacle with reduced electric power consumption in the uncoupled state and realizing high coupling accuracy at a low price. <P>SOLUTION: The optical receptacle has a movable apt movable between a separated first and second positions, with the movable part and an optical connector coupled at a first and second coupling parts. The optical connector has an optical fiber with the tip end exposed from the first coupling part. The optical receptacle has a fixing part covering the movable part so that it is movable between the first and second positions and having an opening part at a position corresponding to the second coupling part, and also has an elastic member pressing the movable part from the second position to the first inside the fixing part. In addition, there are provided an optical element which is arranged in the movable part so as to be optically coupled with the optical fiber when coupled, and a first connecting terminal a part of which is exposed from the movable part and connected to the optical element in the movable part. The first connecting terminal comes into contact with the second connecting terminal when the movable part is situated at the second position.
