PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide semiconductor polymers such as polythiophenes useful in applications of microelectronic devices including thin film transistor devices. SOLUTION: The polythiophenes are shown by structural formula (III) (wherein, A is a side chain; B is H or a side chain; D is a bivalent linkage group; (a) and (c) are each the number of A-substituted thienylene groups; (b) is the number of B-substituted thienylene groups; (d) is 0 or 1; and n is the degree of polymerization or number of the monomer segment).
