PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer ceramic capacitor which can prevent a pinhole from being made into an external electrode, can form the thin external electrode even to the corner of an end face of the ceramic chip and can avoid generation of crackings in a chip main body, and also to provide external electrode paste. SOLUTION: In this multilayer ceramic capacitor, an external electrode paste is made by alternately stacking inner electrode paste films and dielectric green sheets, coating the external electrode paste on both ends of an unbaked chip main body having inner electrode paste films alternately exposed at both end faces, and burning the main body 1 and an external electrode 6 simultaneously. The external electrode 6 at an end face 21 of the main body 1 has a thickness of 1-40μm and has a thickness of 1-20μm, at parts other than the end face 21 of the main body 1.
