摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical unit which enables the center axis of a ferrule to be aligned with an optical axis. SOLUTION: A unit housing 18 has a through hole 22 circularly sectioned penetrating the housing along a specified optical axis 20, a light emitting element LED or light receiving element PD is fitted to a base end part of the through hole 22 coaxially with the optical axis 20, and an opening 22a that the light from the light emitting element or light receiving element passes through is formed in the tip part of the through hole 22. At least three positioning projections 34 are arranged on the same circumference to project inwardly in a radial direction from an inner circumferential surface prescribing the through hole 22. In the through hole 22, a split sleeve is fitted from the opening 22a so that the tip part of the ferrule increases the external diameter of the split sleeve. While the split sleeve is loosely fitted in the through hole 22, at least one inner circumferential surface of the positioning projections 34 is so set as to leave the outer circumferential surface of the split sleeve.
