A paper or carton-making assembly discharges layers of material through parallel channels separated by sidewalls (6) and terminating in downwards-directed converging nozzle outlets (2). Each channel sidewall consists esp. of a first parallel section (6.1) translating at a bend (7, 8) to a second converging section (6.2). The bend (7, 8) allows for a deflection of plus or minus 100 mm from the mid-point. The bend between the first (6.1) and second (6.2) sidewall sections is formed by a hinge or a weak fold line. The weak line (7) has a lower E-modulus than the channel sidewalls (6.1, 6.2). The deflection angle (K is 25-75degrees. The inlet height H is pref. 10-500 mm. The channel sidewall lengths L1 and L2 are pref. 100-500 mm.
