A system (30) for detecting flaws in assembled plate-type heat exchangers (32) with minimum stoppage of the production line. The system (30) comprises a high-pressure air path (36) and a low-pressure water path (38), flowing in opposite directions, and a sensor (56) for detecting pressure increases in the low-pressure path (38). Such pressure increases occur as a result of flaws (54) in the plates (34), permitting a pressure transfer from the high-pressure path (36). The pressure sensor (56) is connected to a valve (58) which opens in response to increased pressure level in the low-pressure path (38). A pulse counter (60) counts the number of times the valve (58) opens and provides readout to a convertor (62). The size of the holes (54) present may be determined by computerized conversion of the counter reading and be provided as a printout. |
