<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus wherein the stable traveling of an image carrying belt is secured, and also, the color overlapping accuracy is improved by preventing the fluctuation of the image carrying belt speed and the expansion/contraction of the image carrying belt due to the influence of a fluctuating load on the image carrying belt. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus provided with the image carrying belt 2 for directly or indirectly carrying the image and circularly traveling while being stretched between several stretching rollers 1, and a sub unit 3 arranged in contact with the image carrying belt 2 and generating the fluctuating load (a), the image forming apparatus is also provided with a load adjusting means 4 for imparting a pseudo load (b) for reducing the fluctuating load (a) generated on the image carrying belt 2, and for reducing the fluctuating load (a) with respect to the image carrying belt 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
