PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder resin for toner and a toner excellent in productivity and moisture resistance. SOLUTION: The binder resin for toner is a styrene acrylic binder resin obtained by suspension polymerizing styrene monomers or acrylic monomers in the presence of a polymerization initiator, a crosslinking agent, a chain transfer agent or the like while using a vinyl polymer as a dispersant having monomers such as a sodium salt or a potassium salt of sulfoethyl 2-methacrylate or a sodium salt or a potassium salt of sulfopropyl 2-methacrylate as the structural component.
