PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing instrument which enables a rotational operation body to be rapidly and easily operated with one hand and in which a member such as a seal, needing directionality, can be provided in an upper body. SOLUTION: In this writing instrument, a refill which is constantly supported in the rear by a snapping member, a rotating cam and a sliding cam are arranged inside a main body which is provided with a guide groove; a rotation converting member, which is inserted in the rear, is arranged inside the main body; the rotational operation body, in which a rotating protrusion is provided on the inner wall, is arranged on the outer periphery of the rotation converting member; a conversion protrusion is located in a notched window of the main body on the surface of the rotation converting member; the rotational operation body is rotatably provided in such a manner as to conceal the notched window; when the rotational operation body is rotated, the rotating protrusion and the conversion protrusion abut on each other in the operations of the protrusion and storage of at least the tip of the writing instrument, so that the rotation converting member can be pushed forward, so that the sliding cam and the rotating cam can be pushed forward for rotation, and so that the tip of the writing instrument can be exposed and housed.
