PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image managing device capable of suitably managing image data according to the specified using purpose. SOLUTION: The image data are displayed as reduced images on a list by a list display means 2, the reduced images on the displayed list are allocated and displayed on an editing picture composed of a sub-story, with which images are laterally arrayed and displayed according to a partial detailed story, and a main story, with which this sub-story is arrayed and displayed to form an entire rough story, by an editing picture display means 3 and this editing picture is stored as one file together with the original image data of the allocated reduced images by an image data storage means 4.
