PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet storage device, prevented from causing jamming of bills stored in peculiarly folded or curled conditions, when carried out. SOLUTION: Pawl members 100, 101 protruding somewhat upward from a carrier passage 1, via which the bills are carried, into a storage part 2 are formed in parallel to the direction of carrying the bills. When carry-out instructions are given to the bills P3 being peculiarly curled, stored in the storage part 2 with the carrying operation, and being stored and placed on the uppermost bill on a stage 3 in the state of being put to the single side of the storage part 2, the stage 3 is first moved up. At this time, the bills P3 are put in contact with carrying rollers 27, 29 after their side ends are put in contact with the lower faces of the pawl members 100, 101. With the stage being moved up, the bills P3 in the state of being unconstrained are pushed back to a central direction, corrected to be normally stacked and put in contact with the carrying rollers 27, 29, therefore permitting stable carry-out operation of the bills.
