PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new optical module and an optical coupling method. SOLUTION: The optical module is composed of a combination of lens members LM1 and LM2 each having one or more equivalent lens faces on one surface of a planar transparent body and having slopes on the other face, with each slope inclined at a specified angle with respect to the plane perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens face and uniquely responding to the respective lens face. The lens members are disposed in specified spatial relation in such a manner that the slope faces of the lens members oppose to each other and are shifted in the inclination direction of the slopes.
