PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic effective for promoting the water-retention of the skin and having excellent moisturizing effect. SOLUTION: The cosmetic effective for promoting the water-retention of the skin and having excellent moisturizing effect contains a mixture of high fructose corn syrup and one or more kinds of substances selected from amino acids such as serine and threonine and betaines such as trimethylglycine. The cosmetic may further contain salt-containing capsules. A pack cosmetic having especially high moisturizing effect after rinsing can be produced by the method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
