<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To multiply a repetitive frequency of an optical pulse train generated in an ML-FRL and also to stabilize optical pulses. <P>SOLUTION: A filter which allows a frequency being an integral multiple of an applied frequency f<SB>m</SB>to pass through and a composite cavity having optical fibers different by length connected in parallel are provided in an optical fiber ring. When the lowest harmonic out of harmonics common to a resonance frequency f<SB>c1</SB>of the optical fiber ring defined by the longer cavity of the composite cavity and a resonance frequency f<SB>c2</SB>of the optical fiber ring defined by the shorter cavity of the composite cavity is denoted as f<SB>c</SB>' and a pass frequency defined by the filter is denoted as Kf<SB>m</SB>(K is an integer), the f<SB>c</SB>' is an integral multiple of the Kf<SB>m</SB>, and the repetitive frequency of the generated pulse is P×K×f<SB>m</SB>(P is an integer). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
