PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stop mechanism capable of stopping any of forward and reverse rotation instantaneously and having a simple structure and provide a round table having the stop mechanism. SOLUTION: This stop mechanism is provided with a fixed body 11, a movable body 10 supported on a surface of the fixed body 1 with a fixed parallel interval so as to move relatively, a pair of inclined faces 14, 14 provided on the surface of the fixed body 11 and inclining in the reverse direction for each other along the direction of moving of the movable body 10, a pair of play motion stoppers 12, 12 arranged by corresponding to a pair of inclined faces 14, 14 and forming a circular cross section, energizing means 15, 15 for energizing a pair of stoppers 12, 12 in the opposite direction for each other, and a moving means 16 for moving the play motion stoppers 12, 12 in the opposite directions simultaneously against energizing force of the energizing means 15, 15.
