The coil spring (6) and the separate damper (8) are supported at their lower ends on a longitudinal rear axle tube (1) by a common console bracket (10) mounted transversely to the vehicle. The damper (8) is held for swivel movement at its upper end on a support device (7) fixed on a superstructure support (4) whilst the spring is mounted by its upper end in a support device (20) integrated into the superstructure support. The damper and spring can be mounted side by side parallel in the transverse direction with the spring inside, relative to the vehicle wheel.
