PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a form document editing device capable of easily preparing the document of a desired form. SOLUTION: A document editing device 1 has a form document/image converting part 2 for converting the contents of a selected form document file J to form image data P2 as formatted in the case of printing the document file J and a synthetic editing part 3 provided with an input/editing screen 13 for form completion for displaying the form image data P2 converted by this converting part 2 as a background form image P3 of characters to be inputted/ edited and a character data input/editing part 20 for accepting the input/editing of character data at a position selected to fill the form of the background image P3 displayed on this screen 13. The generation of the background form image P3 by means of this document editing device 1 is performed typically by dragging and dropping the form document file J on the screen 13 of the editing part 3.
