PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical resin with a high refractive index and a high Abbe's number. SOLUTION: In this optical resin the void ratio of the amorphous structure is below 34% and it is composed of a phosphonic residue, a bivalent phenolic residue and a carbonate residue where the mole fractions of the phosphonic residue (a) and the carbonate residue (b) satisfy the inequality (1): (a)/[(a)+(b)]≤0.05.
