PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro plate retaining apparatus that can support and fix a plurality of types of micro plates with mutually different shapes with a simple configuration, and is highly versatile and can be easily managed. SOLUTION: The micro plate 100 where a plurality of wells 102 having an opening 102a on the surface side are arranged and formed at a fixed pitch while being surrounded by four projecting sections 102b that project due to the formation of the wells 102 on the rear side is supported by inserting a plurality of support pins 14 that are erected on a substrate 12 into the recess 16. The support pins 14 are tapered pins that are mutually separated and arranged, are easily inserted into the recess 16, and are firmly loaded in. Since the support pins 14 are inserted into the recess 16 on the lower surface of the micro plate 100, a number of types of micro plates 100 with mutually different outer shapes can be supported.
