An abrasive dentifrice composition which effects enhanced tooth stain removal is described. The composition comprises an orally acceptable vehicle containing a combination of a low oil absorption silica abrasive having an oil absorption value of less than 100cc/100g silica and an proteolytic enzyme, such as papain.
