PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cutting apparatus which easily provides a satisfactory end face angle and a smooth cut surface in the case of cutting an optical fiber and which cuts the optical fiber at costs lower than before. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cutting apparatus 100 grasps the optical fiber 10 by clamps 20A and 20B separated from each other, applies tensile force to the optical fiber 10 existing between the grasped two grasping parts, and repeats bringing of a blade 30 to be used when cutting the optical fiber near to the optical fiber 10 existing between the grasping parts and moving away of the blade 30 by a moving back distance shorter than an approach distance at a frequency between 10 Hz to 800 Hz to gradually bring the blade 30 nearer to the optical fiber 10 to vibratingly drive the blade 30 by a single stepping motor 12 so as to flaw the optical fiber 10.
