PURPOSE: A method for servicing bell sounds of a mobile communication terminal and a device therefor are provided to store a user's bell sound in MP3 or AAC(Advanced Audio Coding) type, and to restore data to an original type in a bell sound output mode, then to output the restored data, thereby improving quality of the bell sounds. CONSTITUTION: If a call is made, a receiving signal detector detects a receiving signal, and outputs a detection signal to a microprocessor(S1). The microprocessor reads a file predetermined by a user among MP3 or AAC type bell sound files(S2,S3). The MP3 or the AAC type files are transmitted to a decoder after canceling compressed states by the microprocessor or a digital signal processor. The decoder restores the cancelled files into an original type, and outputs the restore files to a speaker(S4,S5). The user recognizes that the call is made, by listening to a bell sound, and switches a mode into a call mode to have a conversation with other party(S6).
