PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooking apparatus capable of easily performing response to the program fault, updating and addition of new functions or the like by anyone by rewriting the program by loading a memory medium. SOLUTION: A microwave oven body 14 consists of a microcomputer 3, a flash memory 4, a RAM 5, a card loading part 6, a display device 9 and a speaker 10, etc. When the memory card 7 is inserted into the card loading part, it investigates whether the program data for rewriting exists in the date in the card or not. When it exists, rewriting of the control program on the built-in flash memory is started. If there is abnormality in the program for rewriting, program rewriting is not performed, and warning is displayed with sounding an alarm sound through the speaker. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
