PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical device the inclination of the scanning line of which is easily adjusted, which is realized by a small adjusting amount and which is miniaturized. SOLUTION: The scanning optical device is equipped with a holding means for holding an image forming lens, and the holding means is attached to rock a light beam direction in the center of the longitudinal direction of the image forming lens as the center of rotation at the position of the holding means equivalent to the center of the longitudinal direction of the image forming lens.
