<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which such a paper hardly separable can easily be separated that a recycled paper which has tendency to curl and is hardly separable from a photoreceptor and also a paper for color copy whose resistance is high and which is hardly separable. <P>SOLUTION: A transfer current applied to a transfer charger is controlled at two levels of a first current A21 and a second current A22. The first relatively low current A21 is applied (refer to (c) in figure 2) corresponding to the top end area (area for instance to 7 mm from top end) of the paper, so that a negative electric charge charged to the top end area of the paper is reduced. Force by which the top end area of the paper is attracted by the photoreceptor is weakened, so that the top end of the paper is easily separated from the photoreceptor. It is returned to the second current A22 relatively high in a remaining area, so that normal transfer performance is secured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
