PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device, which can be simply manufactured and assembled by reducing the number of its components and its size. SOLUTION: The braking device is arranged between a motor 9 and a load 11, and stops the load 11 when the motor does not drive the load, and transmits mechanical torque when the motor drives the load. The braking device is composed of brake disks arranged in parallel with each other, which are alternately connected to a driving shaft 8 and a motor casing 10 with a rotary connection and a sliding connection. End disks 1, 3 of the parallel disks are connected to the driving shaft 8 so as to rotate, and are separated by cooperative means 4, 5, and transmit mechanical torque. Such a structure of the braking device reduces dimensional conditions about an operating clearance between the cooperative means 4, 5, and the force applied to the disk 1 by a spring 6 is received by a bearing as a reaction force.
