OPTICAL COMMUNICATION MODULE, OPTICAL FIBER, AND OPTICAL COUPLING STRUCTURE BETWEEN THE TWO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reception efficiency of receiving light in an optical coupling structure between a single core optical fiber and a two-way optical communication module.

SOLUTION: In the optical fiber 2, at least one end of the light propagation core 28 is provided with an expanded part 29 more expanded than the rest of the core 28. The optical communication module 1 is equipped with a light emitting element 4 for generating transmitting light 21 and a transmitting lens 6 for coupling the transmitting light 21 to the end of the optical fiber 2. The light emitting element 4 and the transmitting lens 6 are arranged in the manner that the area where the transmitting light 21 is coupled to the end of the optical fiber 2 is included at least partly in the expanded part 29.
