PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply unit capable of quick restart-up of a reactor after a turbine trip or generator load cut-off and raising the load factor of a reactor power station. SOLUTION: A power converter 8, connected between an alternating current source 6 and a reactor coolant recirculation pump motor 5, and variably controlling the reactor coolant recirculation pump motor 5, is provided. The power converter 8 comprises a power converter unit 10 for converting an alternating current voltage and frequency, a control circuit 11 for receiving external pump trip signal S1 and supplying the power converter unit 10 with a pump termination signal S2, and a deciding circuit 12 for deciding whether pump restart is capable, supplying the control circuit 11 with a pump restart capability deciding signal S3 and making the power converter unit 10 outputting a pump restart signal S4 from the control circuit 11. By terminating the power converter unit 10 with the pump termination signal S2, when pump speed is low, motor control with the power converter 8 is restarted by the pump restart signal S4 and pump 4 operation is continued with the constitution.
