LENTINUS LEPIDEUS EXTRACT HAVING IMMUNOREGULATORY ACTIVITY AND COMPOSITION CONTAINING SAME

PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing a Lentinus lepideus extract exhibiting immunostimulating and immunoregulatory effects is provided. The Lentinus lepideus extract induces cytokine expression involved in controlling various types of immune cells by controlling NF-kB as a major factor of immunity and inflammation and promotes immunity-enhancing action and thus can be used in prevention and treatment of infectious disease caused by bacteria or virus. CONSTITUTION: A mycelium of Lentinus lepideus is put to culture for 1 to 20 days at 15 to 35deg.C in a liquid medium while agitating at 30 to 200rpm, washed with distilled water and then dried. Thereafter, the mycelium is added with about 5 to 40 times with water, lower alcohol such as methanol, ethanol, etc. or a mixed solvent thereof, extracted for 1 to 48hr at 50 to 100deg.C 2 to 5 times, concentrated and then dried. A pharmaceutical composition contains 0.01 to 95% by weight of the extract as an effective ingredient and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, based on the total weight of the composition.
