<p>A bicycle carrier (10) primarily designed for transporting an off road bicycle by a motor vehicle is designed to fit onto the trailer hitch (18) of the motor vehicle. A channel member (12) is supported to a support member (30) and a cross member (16) that fits into the trailer hitch (18) and an upstanding post (20)with a plurality of holes (22) for receiving a locking pin (24). A locking arm (26) is slidably mounted on the vertical post (20) and when the bicycle is guided onto the channel member (12) the locking arm (26) is positioned downwardly with sufficient force to arm the shocking system of the bicycle and preload the bicycle to the carrier (10).</p> |
