PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant cultivation medium having water absorptivity allowing to perform moistening work in planting in a short time and water retention allowing to bring the frequency of watering work when raising plants to equivalent or below that of conventional rock wool, excellent in moldability and safety to a human body, having air permeability necessary for cultivation and disposable in the environment after using; to provide a plant cultivation molded medium; and to provide a method for producing the mediums. SOLUTION: This plant cultivation medium, which is excellent in moldability, has air permeability, water absorptivity and water retention necessary for cultivation and is safe and disposable in the environment, is obtained by subjecting a fibrous material of a woody raw material to ammonia water treatment. Accordingly, it is possible to provide the plant cultivation molded medium which is excellent in moldability, water absorptivity, water retention, air permeability and safety to a human body and disposable in the environment.
