<p>The invention provides a system for analyzing a signal received over a channel to determine the channel characteristics. The determined characteristics are then used to divide the sub-carriers up into groups with similar fading characteristics and allocating a pilot channel to each group. The determined pilot allocation scheme is then used for future transmissions across the channel.</p> |
