HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND SYSTEM FOR CLEANING WASTE GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure having excellent mechanical strength and a smaller pressure drop and a method for manufacturing the same, and to provide a system comprising the honeycomb structure for cleaning a waste gas.

SOLUTION: A honeycomb structure 1 comprises: an external wall 7; partition walls 2 arranged inside the external wall; and a large number of circulation holes 3 which are partitioned by the partition walls 2, penetrates in the axial direction, and has a vertical cross section with an approximately square shape in the axial direction. The honeycomb structure 1 has a reinforcement part 72 at part of the external wall 7. The reinforcement part 72 in the cross section of the honeycomb structure 1 extends at least from a point on the external wall which exists in the direction of 40 degrees to a point on the external wall which exists in the direction of 50 degrees from the center 9 of the cross section of the honeycomb structure 1 to the longitudinal direction of a partition wall 2a or 2b. The reinforcement part 72 resides within a point on the external wall which exists in the direction of 30 degrees to a point on the external wall which exists in the direction of 60 degrees, and an average thickness of the reinforcement part 72 at the cross section is 1 to 10 mm in the direction of the center 9 of the cross section.
