PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll for a multistage rolling mill in which the roundness of the roll can stably be secured during grinding of the roll with improvement in abrasion resistance, surface glossiness or the like which is characteristic of cemented carbide. SOLUTION: A shaft material composed of an iron-based material is provided with an outer layer composed of the cemented carbide at the outer periphery of the trunk thereof. The shaft material is provided with a ring for receiving thrust load at the outer periphery of the shaft thereof. The shaft material is provided with a center hole at the end surface of the shaft thereof. The end surface of the ring is protruded from the end surface of the shaft material, and the ring is harder than the shaft material. The ring is shrink-fitted or screwed and fixed to the outer periphery of the shaft of the shaft material. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
