PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for scraping grit, sludge or the like, which is constituted so that a truck is not moved in advance before an interlocking mechanism is started. SOLUTION: This scraping apparatus is provided with the truck 31 to be moved back and forth along a guide rail 8 arranged in the upper part of the bottom wall of a basin to be treated, a scraper 47 fit to on a shaft 42 perpendicular to the moving direction of the truck 31, a traction transmitting means 29 arranged for freely pulling the truck 31 back and forth in the moving direction and moving the scraper 47 vertically, the interlocking mechanism for transmitting the force of the means 29 to the shaft 42 of the scraper 47 so that the scraper 47 is moved downward for scraping sludge or the like toward one direction in a scraping position or moved upward and returned to the opposite direction. The interlocking mechanism is provided with interlocking arms 69, 62 freely rotatable around the shaft 42 and a play means arranged for stopping the transmission of the rotary motions of the arms 69, 62 to the shaft 42 by a fixed angle when the scraping state of the scraper 47 is changed to the returning state.
