A cooling flow of external air (K1, K2) is directed against an external wall section (23) around the wash chamber (10). This simple system condenses water inside the dishwasher using a flow of air promoted externally. The condensate runs to the base of the chamber, where it is collected and pumped out, using an existing, conventional function of the machine. An indirect heat exchanger (W) can be included at any stage in the airflow circuit, operating together with the wall cooling. Other circuits can be envisaged, e.g. in which the dry air, heated indirectly as described, is introduced into the wash chamber, where its enhanced capacity to take up water vapor is exploited.
