PURPOSE: A device and a method for identifying an RF(Radio Frequency) IC card are provided to enable one RF IC card reader/writer to process all of the different RF IC card by comparing the signal pattern transmitted from the RF IC card and transmitting the result to the RF IC card reader/writer. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a demodulator(1) demodulating the wireless transmitting signal received from an RF IC card(5), an integrator(2) generating a basic wave pattern by integrating the RF IC card signal demodulated in the demodulator, a comparer(3) regulating to beyond or below signal by comparing the basic wave pattern generated in the integrator with a specific standard voltage, and a calculator(4) sampling a regular cycle of RF IC card signal regulated in the comparer and outputting the identification signal after identifying whether the RF IC card signal is type A or type B through a specific calculation procedure. The calculator decides the sampling RF IC card signal as type A if the time of high level signal is greater than a specific standard value.
