PURPOSE:To display the number of residual sheets with high accuracy by operating the number of residual sheets from a signal corresponding to the rise of sheets and a corresponding signal of the number of used sheets before rise to the height of residual sheets to display the number of residual sheets. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 50 first calculates the height of rise from a lower bound switch SW5 position of a tray to a position where the upper surface of stacked sheets is brought into contact with an upper bound switch SW4 by pulse number P1 of a disc pulse interlocking with an elevating motor M3, so as to find the pulse number corresponding to the height of sheets on the tray, P0=Pt-P1, from the pulse number P1 and all pulse number Pt between SW4 and SW5. After that, the pulse number on every rise with a decrease in sheets is summed up Pn to find the height of residual sheets, Px=P0-Pn, and the number of residual sheets, N=PxXn/Pn, is operated from the measured number n to the sum Pn. This result is displayed on a display device 52 by operation of SW8, and when a value larger than the number of residual sheets is input to a preset counter 51, a shortage of sheets is alarmed by voice generators 53, 54. |
