PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device which 4 quickly confirm contents of a binarized image. SOLUTION: A digital camera 1 generates black-and-white image data simultaneously with generation of binarized image data to store the generated black- and-white image data in a memory card 17 in relation to the binarized image data when performing binarizing processing of picked-up image data, and the digital camera 1 reproduces the black-and-white image data related to the binarized image data till completion of preparations for reproducing of the binarized image data when reproducing the binarized image data in the memory card 17. Consequently, the black-and-white image data stored in relation to the binarized image data can be displayed while YUV data are generated from the binarized image data, so that image contents can be quickly confirmed.
