The invention relates to a turbo-refrigerating apparatus comprising a compressor, an air-drying block, a recuperative heat exchanger, a lubrication system, a control system and a turboexpander. The inventive apparatus is characterised in that the turboexpander is equipped with a load device (17) which is mounted in the free console of the shaft of said turboexpander. The aforementioned load device takes the form of a bushing comprising annular channels (19) at the rotor part (18), with the relative length of the working friction elements to the radius of the bushing being between 0.1 and 0.2. Furthermore the support surface of the stator part (20) of said load device (17) is provided with axial channels (21), with the relative width of the working elements on the aforementioned response surface of the bushing being between 0.1 and 0.2. According to the invention, the load device constitutes a brake which can be used to control the power of the turboexpander and the working speed, in order to obtain a significant increase in the amount of cold produced by the turbo-refrigerator, such that cold at low temperatures in the approximate range of between -60 DEG C and -120 DEG C can be obtained.
