<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing circuit and an optical disk drive for attaining the more exact calculation of an optimum recording power in the less error condition. <P>SOLUTION: The influence of the electrical offset is increased as absolute values of maximum and minimum values of an RF signal obtained from an operational amplifier 22 are small, but this influence is reducible even though the electrical offset exists, by such a manner that a signal amplitude converting circuit 23 having a variable amplitude conversion gain to convert the amplitude of the RF signal in accordance with the set amplitude conversion gain is furnished on the prestage of a maximum/minimum amplitude detecting circuit 24 to put it to account for the detection of the maximum and minimum values of the RF signal in the maximum/minimum amplitude detecting circuit 24 after the absolute value of the amplitude of the RF signal is furthermore increased. Thus, the more exact calculation for a β value to be finally calculated and not only it but also for the optimum recording power is attained in the less error condition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
