PATTERN RETRIEVAL DEVICE AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern retrieval device capable of retrieving a pattern similar to an presented pattern from a pattern database with high accuracy even when a photographing parameter is varied in reading the presented pattern.

SOLUTION: The pattern retrieving device comprises a means for storing the feature quantities of images of a plurality of definitions different from each other of each sample pattern, a means for calculating the feature quantity of the presented pattern, and a means for measuring a distance between the feature quantity of the image of each definition of each sample pattern and the feature quantity of the presented pattern.
