PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for positioning and fixing a photodetector, a method less liable to cause aging deviation of adjusted position of a photodetector. SOLUTION: A flexible mounting plate (40) is fixed to an optical base (22) at one side face of the plate. At the other side face of the plate, an adjusting screw (54) is screwed onto the optical base. A photodetector (24) is clamped with a clamping plate (30). In a state where the photodetector is pressed to the mounting plate with a pressurizing member (44) extending from the mounting plate, the clamping plate is moved in slidable contact with the mounting plate in the X and Y directions, namely, in the direction orthogonal to the optical axis (OA) of a laser beam. The deviation of the mounting plate is adjusted by adjusting the screwing degree of the adjusting screw that is screwed onto the optical base at the other side face of the mounting plate. Upon completion of the positional adjustment of the photodetector in the X, Y and Z directions, the clamping plate is fixed on the mounting plate with an adhesive. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
