<p>A fast method for divergent-beam backprojection is proposed for generating an electronic image from a preprocessed divergent-beam sinogram (22), the sinogram being a collection of divergent beam projections. The method can include the following steps: subdividing (1010, 1012, 1014, 1016) the sinogram (22) into multiple sub-sinograms (g1, g2, g3, g4) (1010, 1012, 1014, 1016); performing a weighted backprojection of said sub-sinograms (1018, 1020, 1022, 1024), to produce multiple corresponding sub-images (f1, f2, f3, f4 ); and aggregating (1026) said sub-images (f1, f2, f3, f4); to create the electronic image (f, 26). The subdivision of the sinogram into sub-sinograms can be performed in a recursive manner. A dual of the proposed method provides a fast means for reprojecting an electronic image, i.e., generating a divergent-beam sinogram from the image.</p> |
