PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the economic efficiency of a generator. SOLUTION: A beam expander (BE) 2 radiating a spot laser beam having a circular cross section, which is emitted from a laser beam main oscillator 1, to a first slab-type amplifier 3 has a function of only enlarging the laser beam in one direction in the width direction of a laser medium arranged in the slab-type amplifier 3. A polarized beam splitter (PBS) 6 totally reflects a high output laser beam 7 in the width direction of the laser medium, which is emitted from the slab-type amplifier 3 in the opposite direction, to the outside of the generator.
