PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply in which a surge voltage applied to a switching element is reduced. SOLUTION: The switching power supply comprises an input capacitor 10, a transformer 30, a full-bridge type switching circuit 20 having first and second arms and interposed between the input capacitor 10 and the transformer 30, output circuits 50 and 60 connected with secondary windings 32 and 33 of the transformer 30, and a circuit 70 for controlling the switching circuit 20 wherein the first arm has a pair of switch elements composed of first and second switch elements 21 and 22 arranged such that a terminal connected with the input capacitor 10 is closer to the input capacitor 10 than a common connection terminal. With such an arrangement, a parasitic inductance component causing a surge voltage in the first arm can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
