The invention relates to a safety circuit, which reliably prevents at least the removal of an ignition key of a motor vehicle with automatic transmission when not in the park position. The object of the invention is to replace the known, comparatively expensive circuits, sometimes prone to faults, with a simple design. The invention in principle resides in providing the ignition lock with an operating lock and with a locking control (10) in connection with the transmission shift lever (15) and coupling the two arrangements to one another by way of a mechanical connection (cable 7).
