PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluating method in which the sanitary properties of a sanitary ware can be evaluated more accurately by simply detecting sanitary important colon bacilli and colon bacillus group by a visual observation in a nondestructive manner. SOLUTION: In the evaluating method, the surface of the sanitary ware is coated with a selective agar medium in which a color-development substrate such as dissolvedβ-galactosidase,β-glucuronidase or the like is blended, and the sanitary properties of the sanitary ware are evaluated by observing a color- developed colony in the colon bacilli and the colon bacillus group formed on the solidified selective agar medium by the visual observation.
