PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air compressor wherein air cooling performance is further enhanced, while suppressing an increase of cost. SOLUTION: This compressor is provided with: a peripheral part cooling passage 9 provided on a peripheral wall 8 of a discharge chamber 7 formed by a head 4 mounted on an end face of a cylinder 2 fitted with a piston 1 therein via a valve seat 3; and a top part cooling passage 11 provided on a top wall 10 of the discharge chamber 7. Each of both ends of the top part cooling passage 11 is connected to the peripheral part cooling passage 9, a supply port for cooling water is provided in the vicinity of a connecting hole 12 for connecting the one end of the top part cooling passage 11 and the peripheral part cooling passage 9, and a discharge port 18 for cooling water is provided at a position opposite to a discharge valve 5 in the vicinity of the other end of the top part cooling passage 11. As a result, a local temperature rise apprehended in the part opposite to the discharge valve 5 is avoided, while performing an uniform cooling action in all regions of an internal surface of the discharge chamber 7.
